Zambia
Community Development Project
Water
Wells : We need to drill three new wells in our community and
install pumps and tanks on each of them. Each complete well will cost $
7,000.00
Orphans :
We have selected 20 orphans (out of an estimated 400 !) to support in our
Zambian community. Our target is $ 30.00 per month per child. Until we have built
up enough sponsors to allocate one orphan to each sponsor any donations
collected will be pooled and shared amongst the group of 20 so that they are
all receiving some support on an ongoing basis. All sponsors will receive
regular updates about the progress of the orphans being assisted.
To see photos of the 20 orphans and read some of their
personal history please check out this PDF file
.
High
School Fees : We have selected two deserving girls in our Zambian
community to sponsor to attend high school. We need $ 750.00 per year per girl
for this purpose. The money will cover fees, uniforms, books and boarding.
Micro
Loan Fund : We have already established a micro loan fund in our
Zambian community which provides small, interest free loans to enable people to
develop small businesses and become more financially independent. We want to
increase this fund by another $ 3,000.00
Construction
Projects : In 2009 we plan to construct one staff house each at
both the school and the health centre in our Zambian community. We require $
10,000.00 for each house; so a total of $ 20,000.00
Container : In
2009 we would like to ship a 40 foot sea container to Zambia full of equipment
and supplies for our project. Please visit the Container page for more
details on how you can help with this.
We require $ 10,000.00 for program
costs in 2009 for our efforts to reduce suicide in the County of Parkland
area.
